Master Cleanse: The Lemonade Detox Diet

Being in the entertainment world normally demands a picture-perfect look. Glossy flowing-like-water locks, blemish-free skin, million-dollar smile and pearly whites are just part of the ideal package which can be attained effortlessly. The greatest pressure of being on the spotlight is having that great looking body. Most people would say that it really doesn’t matter as long as you are good at what you do as an entertainer. But it is undeniable that having a sexy figure contributes to gaining more audience unless you are Adele. Well, I am not.

I have been struggling to lose some weight for almost three years now and have tried several weight loss programs that promised fast and safe elimination of excess fat. But none of them delivered the results they guarantee. From the 7-day GM Diet to raw food diet, slimming teas and Brazilian coffee to diet pills, even the calorie-counting regimen and the costly gym training. I sometimes end up recalling how I turned out to be anorexic few years back believing it could be the only way for me to lose my post-natal belly. But that’s bad, I know, so I dismiss the idea and continue to look for weight loss programs that would perfectly work out for me.

Then a friend introduced me to The Master Cleanse lemonade detox diet. Fredz and his fiancé, Charis, tried the cleansing diet for 12 days for a Biggest Loser-like competition in their company. As a team, they won the competition for losing more than 30 pounds combined weight. In just 12 days! So I researched about the Master Cleanse diet and came across videos of people documenting their Master Cleanse journey from day one. Some of them did the cleansing for 10 days and some committed to the program for the full 40 days. The amazing results got me interested in trying the program.

Master Cleanse is a juice fast that was developed by Stanley Burroughs and was published in the 1940s. It helps dissolve and flush out toxins that have piled up in the body, promotes a healthy blood stream, revitalizes and brings back skin’s elasticity. The detoxification process is done for a minimum of 10 days and a maximum of 40 days. It promises to keep the body in healthy condition if done three to four times a year.

Master Cleanse Ingredients:

10 oz. purified spring water (distilled water can be used)
2 Tablespoons of lemon extract
2 Tablespoons of Grade B 100% maple syrup
1/10 teaspoon of cayenne pepper

How to take it:

Take six to twelve glasses of the Master Cleanse lemonade daily. NO OTHER FOOD MUST BE CONSUMED FOR THE PERIOD OF THE DIET. The Master Cleanse diet is already a full balance of vitamins and minerals so food cravings will never be a problem. Just take another glass of the lemonade when you feel hungry.

The Master Cleanse lemonade diet is primarily for detoxification hence the word “cleanse”. Losing weight is just a normal side effect since one has literally no solid food intake. But it can also be a reducing diet if the recommended amount of maple syrup is lessened. A special instruction is also recommended for those with medical conditions like diabetes.

I am really very interested in trying the Master Cleanse lemonade detox diet but I think I would need more research about this program. Especially when I came across an article about a casualty report of an ill person who did this program under the supervision of Stanley Burroughs himself in 1984. But hey, Beyoncé Knowles did the Master Cleanse diet in preparation for her role in Dreamgirls. It was reported that she lost 20 pounds. Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher, David Blaine and Angelina Jolie are few of the celebrities who are said to be doing the Master Cleanse diet. And they are alive so why not I give it a try?

Only say the Word!

Only say the Word!
(by Reyg Muñoz-Linao)

 I am a sinner, I cannot be a saint.
But I am grateful for the Higher Spirit
for leading me to the righteous way.
I may not reach heaven where all the saints reside,
so the best I can do here is make everything right.

To whomever I’ve offended, I’ve hurt and I’ve broken,
these knees will be grounded until you announce absolution.
If my last breath is set off with your clemency unheard,
     I’d pray to Him,
“God, please hold me, heal me for I am not of any worth.”

MYX MUSIC AWARDS 2011

I was supposed to go to the 2011 Myx Music Awards with my husband tonight but I decided to stay home and play with our daughter Uno. This is the 6th MMA and so far, and yes I courageously say, I am not happy with the big winners since they started. Winners are determined by votes. So it’s either you win because people really love your music or you wanted to win so bad you spend a lot giving your relatives and friends mobile phone credits to vote you via text messaging. Yes, I know. Too bad for those artist who really makes good music but doesn’t have enough moolah. Either way, the whole country is waiting for it’s yearly result.

I wonder who won on these categories.

Breathe In... Breathe Out...

I slept at 12:00 noon today because my daughter's sleeping routine adjusted...again. Which means I wasn't able to gather that quality sleep needed for my workout prep. So instead of going to the gym and fall flat on the treadmill, I tried the LesMills Body Vive and Body Balance DVDs I got free from a box of cereal and boy did I sweat like it's 180 degrees!
Bodyvive is a low-impact total body workout that lets you exercises on your own phase. I think what I got for free is just an introduction because the LesMills website says they use a Vive balls and Vive tubes besides body weight to boost fitness and core strength. The DVD is like for a 20-minute workout and it featured workout for the legs only. The same duration for the BodyBalance DVD which introduces flexibility workout like Yoga, Tai Chi and Pilates. I failed my balance test during my first gym assessment but when I followed the DVD, I somehow managed to stay longer on the poses. Improvement baby! Yeah!
At last, I can now do a group workout at home!  LesMills classes are part of Fitness First's Group X. With my home workout earlier, I got fired up to attend BodyJam tomorrow. Gotta gather all the strength I need! If only Uno would be sleeping early. Sigh...
