Breathe In... Breathe Out...

I slept at 12:00 noon today because my daughter's sleeping routine adjusted...again. Which means I wasn't able to gather that quality sleep needed for my workout prep. So instead of going to the gym and fall flat on the treadmill, I tried the LesMills Body Vive and Body Balance DVDs I got free from a box of cereal and boy did I sweat like it's 180 degrees!
Bodyvive is a low-impact total body workout that lets you exercises on your own phase. I think what I got for free is just an introduction because the LesMills website says they use a Vive balls and Vive tubes besides body weight to boost fitness and core strength. The DVD is like for a 20-minute workout and it featured workout for the legs only. The same duration for the BodyBalance DVD which introduces flexibility workout like Yoga, Tai Chi and Pilates. I failed my balance test during my first gym assessment but when I followed the DVD, I somehow managed to stay longer on the poses. Improvement baby! Yeah!
At last, I can now do a group workout at home!  LesMills classes are part of Fitness First's Group X. With my home workout earlier, I got fired up to attend BodyJam tomorrow. Gotta gather all the strength I need! If only Uno would be sleeping early. Sigh...

Gone A.W.O.L.! Not cool!

The last time I logged in, my countdown timer was 57 days? 56? I can't remember. I have been AWOL for more than a week. My days were so loaded with sleep, stress and a slight accident. I tripped the other night. My ankles were slightly swollen but it didn't stop me from sweating out a few pounds. Just making my presence felt for now. I'll be back in a jiffy! Hopefully it won't take another week or two. It's just that my mind is overflowing with emptiness. Yes! Gotta go get Reyg back first.

PICTURES!...ahm, pictures?

"Tay (term of endearment to my husband, short for "Tatay" meaning daddy), I'll be posting my belly pics to my blog. What folder was it saved again?" I asked my husband on our way home from Talata's recording this morning. Yes, we went home 5:30 a.m.
"Wag na(don't bother)!" That was almost 2 months ago. We'll just take another picture for you to upload." he suggested.
I guess that's fair enough. But come to think of it, nothing much has changed since we took that picture. So I have decided to show you one picture we took last February 14, my first day back to the gym after a year and a half. Jomal would not be agreeing on this... 100% sure about that! But hey! We need "before and after" pics, right?

Picture taken on Feb. 14, 2010. No, I'm not pregnant! I was on my way to the gym when we shot this. That's my 35.5 inches waistline!

Wrapping Up Day 1

Four servings of fat is all I am allowed to take in a day as indicated in my diet program. A bottle of San Mig Light is equivalent to 1.5 servings of fat according to Karenn, my nutritionist. Barely three bottles is all I may consume in a day provided that all my other food intake is purely steamed, grilled boiled or broiled. I had 3 bottles of beer last night which is not the reason I wasn't able to post this when I got home. I was writing this blog and Uno is still awake. She was calling me to play so I saved this first.
I have a food diary supplied by my nutritionist wherein I must log everything I consumed in a day. Sad to say, I was not able to comply. My room is a mess, my papers are a mess, my diet is a mess, my mind is a mess and I am afraid to one day say I am a mess, don't even want to accept if I already am. I can't find that diary now so I have to log my diet on any piece of paper I can see.
Today, I have a PT (Personal Training) session with Blaize and Karenn also asked if I can meet her for my weekly diet assessment. Now I need to recall what I ate the whole week since Saturday! Good thing somehow I still have a reliable memory. Somehow reliable...
After gym, our band Talata will be recording at Sonicstate in Shaw. By then I can blog again while waiting for my vocal track lay-in. I'll be giving you an insight of my daily recommended food intake that you might want to try. It's for a 1300kcal a day consumption. So see you later!

Fitness Challenge Day 1, Apr.28

Last February 13, I went back to Fitness First but this time I enrolled in Megamall, former home was Robinson's Metro East which is by the way nearer. I was just itching to sign up that day Jomal and I passed by their booth at the activity area Bldg. A. I informed the membership consultant, Glenn, that I was a former member and asked him straight if he can offer me any discount on any admin fee or maybe waive the one-time signing fee whatever they call it. He told me he can cut this, cut that, lessen this lessen that and went on discussing the gym's features, facilities, etc. Jomal, since we are not so much a fan of watches, looked at his mobile phone and slightly tapped my knees..."It's getting late.." his eyes uttered. So I interrupted Glenn to tell him I just need to know if he can give me the same monthly fee I got almost 2 years ago. Oops... sorry for unnecessary details, was just used to being like that since I dated my ex-boyfriend (now husband). The end bargain is that my monthly fee is Php 60.00 higher than what I used to pay.
While couples dated on Valentine's Day, I was at the gym burning down my love handles while Jomal was at home waiting for my SMS so he can fetch me for our Heart's Day dinner. For a year and a half that I never sweated a bucket, there was I perspiring a sea just warming up! Whew! But Blaize, my trainer, was kind enough to understand my situation... "I understand Ma'am, but we need to assess your strength and endurance today so I can create an exercise program that would suit your capability at this point." Oh, owkay... Let me share my assessment stats that day.

Cardio (travel as far as you can in 10 mins.): 0.5 km (0.5km - 2km)
Strength (max. push ups in 1 min.): 22 reps (15 - 40+ reps)
Core (hold plank position for 2 mins.): lasted 54 seconds (30 sec - 2mins.)
Balance (hold star pose for 2 mins.): 25 seconds (30 sec - 2mins)
Flexibility (sit and reach as far as you can): reached my ankles (knees, ankles, toes, goaling for heels)

With that I got a total fitness score of 9 points slumping on the "Keep on Improving" zone. I want to score 21 at least to be in the "Great Fitness Level" area. I am not an athlete, I just want to bring back the energy I had when I was younger so as not to feel like I'm getting really old. Age is just a number, I want to be able to say that confidently. Of course, I want to flatten my abs as well, that's actually the main thing!
Blaize, as they always do, offered her Personal Training services after I told her my goal. It's very pricey, but I am so determined to "bring sexy back!" (exactly, Pika!) Also had my nutrition assessment with Karenn who offered her services as well. I thought it would be great if my diet is tailored to suit my physical program, so I thought about it for 3 weeks and availed of both programs last March 10.
It is so frustrating that I was not able to maximize the program to achieve my goal. My lifestyle and daily routine (which I don't really have) are major contributors of my muscle loss and weight/fat gain. I cannot perfect the diet program given to me. I am supposed to eat every 4 hours (breakfast, a.m. snack, lunch, p.m. snack, dinner and midnight snack) but I tend to skip meals. Sometimes fiber is just not available. Add the alcohol I consume during gigs. I should have spent the money to buy me discipline! Tons of it! But what I neglect in diet I make up in my physical training. Will there be a day I can't go to the gym, I make sure I have done home chores for at least 2 hours a day. Plus I take Healthy Options' L-Carnitine capsules. Still, the results are not what I've expected. No, no, no, it's not the program, the trainer or the nutritionist. It's me! I lack discipline really.
That is why, instead of starting my 60-day fitness challenge last March 10, I would rather count now to see if I can maintain what I've learned during physical training and complete the recommended daily intake of my diet program. I just have to get ready for a gig tonight at Freedom Bar. I need to find my straight jacket to stay away from that ice cold SanMigLyt! Later when I get home and I fail to write a blog, it can mean two things...i am tired or i am drunk! Kitakits!

The 60-day Fitness Challenge!

I am Reyg Linao, 32, married. A year post partum, my waistline is 35.5 inches, weight is 116.4 lbs., fat mass is 32% which is not really ideal and I can't last a 15-minute treadmill run. I am tired of wearing the same clothes that hide my belly. I am tired of not breathing comfortably sucking my tummy in everytime I sit. It's been a year since I gave birth to my lovely daughter and some of my friends ask "Are you pregnant again?". Wow! I need to do something!
From this day on, I'll keep track of my daily food intakes and exercises. Log my weight/fat loss and let's see what happens in the next 60 days! Wish me luck!
